Voting Members

Those who are drawn to make the Abode their long-term residence may apply for Voting Community Membership Status. Within six to twelve months after one’s residency begins, a resident may apply to the Residence Committee to become a candidate for Resident Community Membership. Feedback will then be solicited from the Abode community. Residents who wish to live at the Abode after one year must become Voting Community Members.

All candidates for voting membership must contribute a $500 membership fee and a minimum of 70 hours of donated labor to the Abode towards a project that has been pre-approved by the Residence Committee. Each candidate must have a Sufi Order Mentor and do one of the following: participate in a personal three-day retreat, follow a personal program developed by his or her Mentor, or participate in scheduled classes based on the message of Hazrat Inayat Khan, led by a Sufi Order Guide.
