Community Work Days

One day each month, usually on the first Saturday, the community gathers for a hearty breakfast and 3 and ½ hours of work on seasonal projects . When the bell rings for lunch, a lot has been accomplished, not the least of which is building a strong sense of community by working together. Sample projects include preparing the Mountain Camp for summer and closing it up for winter, fencing the farm, re-glazing the barn windows, weeding the garden and farm, cleaning the ‘free store’ where clothing is passed on freely by those who do not need it to those who do. This is a great place to find farming clothes if you are visiting from the city. The community work day is a good opportunity to learn more about living in community.
