Volunteering is the practice of offering work on behalf of others or to a cause without payment for time and services. Volition is the act of exercising the will as in deciding what to do.
The Abode is a good place to offer your skills and services to a greater cause and to the benefit of others. The Abode often needs skill sets that the community just does not have. It could be for a few hours, a week or a month. The skills could be in the area of marketing, office work, carpentry, painting, gardening, farming, or writing.
You can also volunteer to sing in the choir, join the healing circle, assist in the Welcome Center, clear trails on the mountain, or assist in the kitchen. You can also offer your creative and artistic gifts. There are many ways to make the Abode a meaningful part of your life.
From time to time, there are specific volunteer needs. These requests will be listed on the front page and called Wish List. If the shoe fits and you can, we would appreciate your time and energy.
The people who volunteer are self-guided individuals who take initiative in the work they feel passionate about. They are community-minded, altruistic, truth and spiritual seekers, musicians, artists, writers, designers, videographers, marketing experts, and students interested in the healing arts, environmental studies, medicinal herbs, forestry, horticulture, carpentry, and much more. Our volunteers are willing to work as part of a community and to share their skills for a good cause.
There are long-term and short-term opportunities for volunteering including Khidmat, our Work Study program, and Hands to Heart, our Work Exchange program.
