Thursday Evening - Esoteric Classes of the Sufi Order
7:00 pm We all begin together with a 15 minute silent meditation in the Meditation Hall
7:15 pm There are a number of classes held at this time. For anyone coming for the first time
you would participate in the Inquirers Class, a class that provides teachings, allows
one to ask questions and engage in discussions on themes about Sufism. This class
is for all non-initiates of the Sufi Order. It enables one to discover more of who we are and
what Sufism is about.
At this same time initiates within the Sufi Order can attend the Gatha Githa and Sangatha
series of classes based on the study circle you are in.
8:00 pm Everyone is invited and returns to the Meditation Hall for the Sacred ceremony of Zikr.
Zikr literally means "remembrance" and what are remembering is God. This practice is the
staple practice of Sufis all over the world. Each week a different Zakir (one who leads Zikr)
guides the group through repetition of the sacred phrases and names of God, so that we
can return to the knowing within, the divine reality. Sometimes there is music and each
Zakir shares a unique attunement to this practice.
