"There came a gathering of Sufis this morning--- Where at dawn's first rays, I saw assembled 1000 birds upon a lake. Morning prayer had begun. With complete abandon, each bird cried out God's name in praise over and over again. Whirling and dancing in heavenly delight, They were filled with God's bounty............. Finally, completely surrendered, they arose as One, Their freedom was written in great sky circles as they took flight. Friend, there is no hiding the naked beauty of the ecstatic"
-Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi
Through turning, prayer, zikr, and poetry, we will experience the dervish path, a dynamic process for joining heart to heart, in union with the Beloved. This workshop is open to beginners as well as experienced turners who wish to deepen their practice and understanding of the whirling tradition. Shakina will be sharing her thirty years of experience and teachings from the unpublished Mevlevi Training Manual, which she was asked to create by her teacher, Postneshin Jelaluddin Loras from Konya, Turkey.
Limited to 25.
The first of a series.
Offered by Shakina Reinhertz, Representative and Retreat Guide in the Sufi Order International, Author, " Women called to the path of Rumi" and Senior Teacher in the Mevlevi Order of America.
