The Abode Apothecary

The Abode Apothecary operates on the Abode campus and is a pivotal part of our mission, helping to spread awareness of health, nurturing, and mindful living. Since the 1970s, the Abode has maintained an on-site apothecary, continuing a tradition rooted even earlier in the Shakers’ deep reverence for local herbs and the creation of home medicinals.

We strive to honor these legacies by dedicating space to the cultivation of herbs and the creation of herbal tools and remedies, recognizing the rich and beautiful soil here and all it offers to both our community and the public. The Abode Apothecary grows, produces, and sells all of its products on campus, practicing organic and biodynamic methods in the care of all our herbs.
