The area we now call our Mountain Camp, including the Mountain Sanctuary, was known as a Holy Hill to the Shakers and a place of power to the Mohican people before them. To the Sufi’s, it was a special place of meditation, thoughtfulness, and harmony. In different ways and through different expressions, each recognized what many of us still feel when we walk the trails or sit quietly among the trees today: that this land carries presence and intention.
